Developing my ideas: fabric sampling

 



Today I began to develop my ideas by looking at my initial drawings and considering what fabrics might be suitable for my designs.

I selected a range of creams/ beiges to match my 'cargo / outdoors' style. I was also considering the texture of the fabric and how this might work on my clothing or for the whole collection. 
I also looked at a range of black fabrics that could work for some detail sections or accessories such as the bags. I focused on the leather fabrics for their stiffness and how durable they would be. I felt these matched my theme for my collection. 
An important part of this fabric collecting process was that all these fabrics were from a second-hand fabric source, which means I would be giving them another life by using them in my collection, therefore making the fabrics sustainable. 
As I continue to draw my designs I will keep referring to my fabric mood board to see which fabrics would work best for my clothes.

    Which fabrics have you focused on? You mention the colours but not the actual material in this post or that you will follow up on more in-depth research into this part of your project.

Peter Pilotto: Fashion Sea Collection Research

I am looking at the Peter Pilotto 2012 spring collection for my fashion project. Peter Pilotto is a brand established in 2007 by Peter Piotto and Christopher  De Vos.  Their Spring 2012 undersea collection was inspired by their trip to Indonesia. Look 1: The outfit shows the theme of the underwater world by using sharp and slim waistline cutting. The fish scale-like pattern makes the model looks like a mermaid. The pencil skirt fits tightly to the body and looks like the tale of a mermaid. The cutting of the outfit looks like a fish and uses colours related to the underwater theme. Fannie Schiavoni Artist Research

Fannie Schiavoni born in Sweden, when Schiavoni turned 18 she moved to London and studied tailoring in London college of fashion, her tailoring and traditional hand crafting technique background helped her to develop unique methods to design chainmail accessories. State by The Cool Hour (n.d.) Her design had been appreciated by famous artists including Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Katey Perry, she had also collaborated with designers such as Alexander Vauthier and Matthew Miller et cetera.
