Undersea Collection: Development Drawings

Image
I have been working on developing my fashion collection drawings.  I completed them on tracing paper, which I then photocopied so that I could add colour and further design.  I then took pictures of these on my phone to add to the blog.  I just needed to convert these from a HEIC format to Jpeg. Look One, Two & Three from Left to Right Look One The design is of the hat is inspired by squid, the shaping of the hat is in squid style, also I have added tentacles around the edging of the hat so when the wearer walks there is movement.  The design of the crop top is shaped like a stingray, which hugs the models body shape and the top of the skintight leggings are covered by sea plants and I have added some detailing on the leggings that represent undersea coral reefs and plants that are polychromatic (multi-coloured) Look Two In look two I have created a deep V-Necked fitted blouse with extra-puffy short sleeves, that I have matched with a Jellyfish opaque above the knee flared skirt w

Further Research: Sea Images for Fashion Design

Katsushike Hokusai Under the Wave off (1830) I will be looking here at sea images that will inform my fashion design project Undersea Collection.  I will look at these images and discuss the colours, textures, patterns and form and how these will inform and enhance my design process. I will begin by discussing Hokusai The base colours of the painting are indigo and white. it also used Prussian Blue pigment that was imported from Europe in the late Edo period ( metmuseum.com ). The first thing that came into view was the stormy waves. The waves use white and indigo to create different textures of the waves, making the waves look more turbulent. With my own fashion designs for this project I will be using different shades and tones of blue for my designs, I created a colour palette on a creator online to get an idea of the colours I would like to use below.   To give my design more texture and life, like Hokusai with the white waves I will use yellow or gold for my accent colour, somet

I am Sam, I am a fashion student at DMU.  I want to be a fashion designer because I want to create art not just to display in the museum, I want to create a art people can wear everywhere and enjoy time after time. I want to see my work in the streets, throughout the world as people enjoy my fashion design every day. I am really interested in creating high end, high street collections for both men and women.  My designs would be formal and elegant for everyday wear.  My ambition is create collections that are exquisite, stylish and eco-friendly. Studying at DMU, I aim to improve my fashion design skills and to make a collection that will get to London Fashion Week.  After university, I plan to get experience working in a luxury fashion house to gain experience of the business so that eventually I can create my own fashion brand that could be recognised globally. Eco-Friendly Fashion Example I have added my personal introduction in to the website Wix in the about page and delete the def
